After a car accident, dent, or other need for auto body repair, drivers may wonder what the next steps are after they contact a shop. Let’s go over the typical collision repair process and what you can expect:

After a collision occurs, the driver will most likely first talk to their insurance company who will give them a list of recommended auto body shops. They do not have to choose one from that list if they already have their own preferred center. The driver should then call the auto body shop and let them know that they will either be driving over or will need towing if their car was badly wrecked. Once they’re at the shop, the mechanics can take a look at the car for an estimate, which will have to also go through insurance.

If the driver comes in with a dent or other smaller damage that they might not want to go through insurance, then will also be given an estimate for those repairs.

Another part of the estimate is communicating with the insurance company on what will be covered to ensure a more accurate estimate. The auto body shop should be able to effectively communicate with the insurance to help figure it out so the driver knows exactly what will be out of pocket if that is necessary.

After the stress of an accident, drivers will often feel lost and stranded without their typical transportation. We help support them by setting them up with a loaner car or our free shuttle service.
